Just what I was looking for

Easy to fit and remove drives. Recognised immediately by Windows 11. Can be used without the cover to ensure HDDs remain cooler if copying a lot of data. Solidly built and very good value.

The UGREEN USB 3.0 HDD enclosure replaced an older enclosure from IcyBox which kept defaulting to USB 2.0 speeds for no reason. The Ugreen is showing better transfer rates and is very quiet in operation. Im using a Seagate Barracuda 5400rpm 4TB drive. The case seems solid enough, the drive fits snug inside and also runs cool during normal operation. Currently 35 deg C in a warm room. The power activity light glows a bit dim but visible. Very happy with it so far and its good value for money.

The USB HDD enclosure is perfectly adequate but they wouldn't reply to my email requests for a VAT invoice.

Got two of these to replace a faulty enclosure and they work perfectly. Had an initial issue with the power supply on one, but support replaced it without hesistation, so 10/10.
Speed is great. Although the disks are only using a SATA II (3Gp/s) controller, I am still getting the limit of my hard drives out of them (around 250-270MB/s).

Only ventilation holes are on the bottom of the unit, so the drives can get quite hot, so I tend to run mine with the tops off as they are powered on 24/7 as part of a homelab.

I'd prefer a different power switch so they powered on after a power outage, but thats nit picking as my energy supply is super stable.

I fitted a 6TB HDD to this enclosure and whilst it showed up as a drive in windows, it spins down very soon after no file activity. So, it spends a lot of time spinning up and spinning down, causing the drive to get hot and casuing very slow access times. Also, after a powercut, it remains off, until the on button is pressed.

Excellent value for money. Reliable delivery and does what it says on the tin! As a pensioner able to remove a hard drive from one failing computer, place it in the caddy and access the data by connecting to a laptop.

I use this product to connect my external 3.5-inch hard drive. It was straightforward to install the hard drive, and it is plug-and-play. My drive's speeds aren't downgraded, and it works well.

It also has a handy on and off button, which is helpful when the drive is not in use; it saves boot cycles.

Cracked open a dead external hard drive and put the drive into this enclosure, drive is working again good as new. Compared to the old OEM enclosure, speeds are actually faster too.

One of the most straightforward devices I have ever had. It works perfectly, file transfer is fast, it was a great price. Totally recommended.

Once unpacked, it probably took less that two minutes to open the caddy install my drive, close up and plug in the device. Could not be any simpler or quicker. Highly recommended.

Lightweight enclosure with simple connection and setup - perfect

We had an old 2012 LeNovo laptop fail on us after many reliable years of use, it failed to boot up and the hard drive was making some horrible clicks. Thankfully I found this device after some searching and thankfully the contents of the hard drive were saved, this option may not work for everyone but for this price I think it's worth a try before trying other avenues. It's a handy device to have either way, even if it's not just for rescuing old hard drives.

I had removed a 3.5 inch HD fro an old desktop to use external storage. The drive slipped easily into this enclosure and was recognised as an external drive with no difficulty.
Excellent profuct

Wanted a back up capacity of 16Tb. Purchased a Seagate SATA III hard drive,slotted it in the enclosure and pretty much good to go.
Note: Windows PC did not initially 'see' the new external drive. I accessed windows Storage Management (via pressing keys -'windows' + 'X') where you can then format and assign the drive a letter/name. All good. Pleased with outcome.

previously I was having issues with this enclosure and it smelling of smoke when I plugged it in… turns out I was using the wrong power cable!

Using the official one now and it works fine… learn from my stupidity and only use the official charger!

I always purchase UGreen cables and adapters, this was no different. Yes, it might cost slightly more but you get what you pay for. They've never let me down. I now have an external SSD Hard Drive from what would have been an Internal drive simply thrown away, as I wasn't able to accommodate it internally in my new PC system. Just need them to create an affordable external optical drive case and I'll be very happy.

Holds my hard drive perfectly

Using it to house a hdd that I had in a desktop computer that had a failed motherboard. No problem.

Takes both sizes of drive, has a power on light, only let down is the on switch is at the back of the device not the front, obviously to make it easier to construct.
Otherwise its great.

Very simple to install HD, no tools are required. Fast connection via USB 3 - would definately recommend.
