UGREEN NASync DXP4800

First thing to know, this is beyond your regular NAS hardware. It has enough features to replace a file server. Everything from full raid support (raid 0 - raid 5) to media server abilities for those they want to start their own digital media library. It does help if you have an IT background or are technical savvy as the features can be overwhelming at first glance. Thats not a bad thing, as most features are pretty rock solid. So far I have used it constantly to transfer files for the past month and not even one hiccup. Also has a nice "app store" where you can even get more tools/app to help you keep organized and set files permission base on user access. As someone who uses this type of hardware every other day, this is one of the best NAS i ever use. If you need one, buy this one. You won't go wrong.

I have my NAS carrying 27tb of storage. The Ugreen NAS works very well and is very responsive. I've upgraded it to 32gb of RAM just because I can, and also thrown in 2 1tb M.2 SSD's for cache. Well worth the money.

I shoot stills and video and have lots of files and some files are huge. Dealing with multiple external drives has gotten a little hectic to say the least. Having this thing has been a major upgrade for my file storage. I use it as an archive to dump a bunch of stuff that has already been edited like raw files and videos from completed projects. Setup was pretty simple (there's some good YouTube videos that can help). I have it in RAID 5 using four 4 tb drives, which gives me 12 gb usable storage and one parity drive. Just be aware that you will need a router with 2.5 gbps capable lan ports or any non 2.5 gbps router and a network switch which can do 2.5 gbps to get the full speed out of it. I believe it can also aggregate its two 2.5 gbps ports to do 5 gbps, but I haven't tried that yet. You can also connect it directly to your PC without a router, but it's not stated how to do so in the instruction manual, so it takes a bit of networking tech know-how to get it working. If you need more transfer speed you'll probably want to step up the the 'plus' model, but I think the non-plus model offers incredible value and possibly could be modified using the high speed usb port with adapters to get up to10gbps transfers, though that is just my speculation for now. Overall, I think Ugreen has a very well made and competent product here and I would definitely recommend it to any content creators, photographers, and video shooters out there that need up to 96 tb of maximum storage capability.

This 4-bay NAS from UGREEN exceeded my expectations. I have been using two and four bay NAS devices for my home and small business networks for a long time. Each year they get better, and the feature sets improve. The people at UGREEN have incorporated just about every major modern feature that you would want in a 4-bay NAS, for just under $500 at the time of ordering. This is a great value for what you are getting. The controller is a genuine Intel powerhouse, and you can really see how fast it is when you are using the web interface. There is no lag when you make your choices, and the screens fly up like it was a local computer. Serving data, I found it to be limited only by your network. I have a 1 GB network, and this drive used it at capacity. I have a notebook computer that has a 2.5GB connection, and it too worked at full capacity when plugged into the drive. I only have a few computers to run tests, but I did huge file downloads/uploads from all computers to the NAS at the same time, and again, the network was the bottleneck, not the drive. The user interface is straight forward, if you know what you are doing. If you don't know much about RAID and/or setting up a NAS, then you will probably want to go to YouTube for some tutorials, because the documentation can be lacking for those wanting more hand holding. I'm an old pro when it comes to these sort of things, and had no issues at all and in fact, didn't need the documentation at all. This was my first experience with UGREEN for higher end IT hardware, and they have made me a believer.Five Star Full Featured yet Budget Priced Four Bay NAS Drive

This is a nice NAS that will hold up to four regular HDDs, plus a couple of M.2 slots! I currently have it running RAID1 with just two drives but the expandability is nice to have. Everything works as expected and quite straightforward. The OS is clean and easy to use; you can of course access the NAS and settings locally, but it can also easily be configured for remote access. It’s got a ton of features as well to make it a great base for a media center or something. This can be plugged straight into a TV through the HDMI port and has multiple USB ports and an SD card slot.The build quality is fantastic. Nice metal build, firm locking latches, dust screen. The trade-off is that it is a bit heavy, but it is strong and actually pretty quiet as well.

Great product

It was sooo easy to set up, literally less than 30 minutes. But it also works great and has great features like accessing it from outside your home, RAID, Docker container support, speed…Cool because you can install up to 4 HDDs and 2 SSDs, up to 112 TB – that is Terabytes – 112,000 Gigabytes! It also supports disk striping (RAID), so you can combine the individual drives into one for speed, capacity, or data protection. Awesome.Dual 2.5 Gbe Ethernet ports – with Cat 6 or better cables, each one transfers data up to 10 Gbps. Nice.It is secure – with a built-in firewall, encryption, and security management apps.I understood this, but a friend seemed dismayed when it did not come with the HDDs or SSDs. So, be aware it does not come with drives.

Let me preface this by saying I'm no networking expert. I installed this on my home network to see how easy it is to install. I'll customize it after I explore a little more about using Docker. I assume if you're looking into this purchase that you have an idea what a NAS is and what you want to use it for.If you just want to setup a simple network attached storage pool for backups and media streaming, this is very easy to setup. You can install up to 4 drives in the bays and two additional NVME drives in the bottom. The bays slide out for easy hard drive installation. 3.5" drives require no hardware, while 2.5" drives require 4 screws and a screwdriver, all included with the device.You can start with one volume and add additional volumes later. Memory is also upgradeable, but the 8GB this comes with is sufficient for my needs. There are two Ethernet ports, one 2.5 Gbps and one 10 Gbps, and you can connect both to your router or switch for load balancing.Setup was fairly straightforward. I installed a 10TB HDD in bay 1 and a 2TB SATA SSD in bay 2. Connect the ethernet cable and the power cable and press the power button.My router apps couldn't find the NAS initially, so I downloaded the UGreen NAS app just to get the IP address and used the web interface to finish setup.There are quick start guides as you start running the interface and I suggest you follow the guides for your initial setup. You can change things later if you don't like your initial choices. Create a storage pool, create volumes and install apps.Ugreen has good tutorials on their website and there are many Youtube videos explaining the various options.If you want you could even use a different NAS OS like TrueNAS and not even worry about the Ugreen OS. That's beyond my current needs, but if you're looking to use this in a test lab to learn various LAN software and want to experiment, this is basically a normal Intel based PC with a place to connect up to 6 drives.If you want to use currently owned drives, be aware that the setup process will erase them. I would install a blank new drive and copy the old drives files over using an external USB drive if you need to keep the data from the old drive.This gets pretty noisy when large amounts of data are being transferred, so you might want to consider where you place this carefully. I wouldn't put it atop a reflective surface or in a cabinet due to noise amplification, and you probably don't want to put it too close to your TV or stereo if you want to use this as a media server. Someone has posted a video how to dampen the noise a little using the foam the NAS is shipped in and some speaker isolation disks if you find the noise too annoying, but it didn't bother me all that much.

Simple to setup. Add drives, create a users and map the drive. Create folders, store your files, data, pictures in one location that all computers on the network can access.I have used other NAS and this is clean and easy to use. I currently have no need to use the apps.Very pleased with this purchase.
